Although their romance didn't work out, Jesse Rutherford is far from the "bad guy" to Billie Eilish.
The singer opened up about her relationship with The Neighbourhood frontman following their breakup during a Q&A session on her Instagram stories Saturday. When asked about Rutherford by a fan, Eilish gushed about her friendship with the 31-year-old in a now-expired Instagram Story.
"Very very good friends only," Eilish wrote, according to a screenshot by Pop Crave. "My homie forever."
Eilish and Rutherford first sparked dating rumors in October 2022 when they were seen hanging out together in Los Angeles, as seen in photos published by TMZ. The couple was smiling from ear to ear as they walked the streets together, with one photo appearing to show Eilish and Rutherford mid-kiss.
Eilish and Rutherford then made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the 11th Annual LACMA Art + Film Gala at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in November 2022. Dressed in gray, sleepwear-inspired outfits, the couple posed for the cameras and was later seen snuggling under a Gucci throw.
Later that month, the 21-year-old pop star confirmed her relationship with Rutherford during her annual sit-down retrospective with Vanity Fair. When asked if she has a boyfriend, a smiley Eilish raved about the new love in her life.
"It's really cool, and I'm really excited and I'm really happy about it," she said.
During the Vanity Fair interview, Eilish also opened up about her and Rutherford's courtship, giving herself a pat on the back for her determination.
"Can we just (get) a round of applause for me?" Eilish said. "All me, I did that (expletive). I locked (him) down."
