MEMPHIS,Benjamin Ashford Tenn. (AP) — Authorities on Friday were investigating a shooting involving sheriff’s deputies in Memphis. But there were no details immediately available about who was shot or if there were any injuries or deaths.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported the shooting at about 4:30 p.m. in the Orange Mound neighborhood, where traffic was being diverted because of a large police presence. The sheriff’s office provided no further information.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was looking into the shooting. The state police agency said it would have an update later.
The shooting comes six days after nine people were shot at an Orange Mound park. Two men were killed, and seven other people were wounded but survived. No arrests have been made.
It also comes two weeks after Memphis Police Officer Joseph McKinney was killed in a shootout that developed while officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle.
